When you begin the process of shopping for a mortgage, the rate should never be the reason why you choose a company.

Rates change daily!

When I was dealing with mortgages one thing that used to make me scratch my head was watching a family take 6 months nit picking over every feature of a house (which they felt was perfect for them) and not choose it based off the paint color of the third bedroom.  The can of paint is about thirty bucks!

However when it comes time to getting a mortgage, they go with the first lender they talk to or they go with whoever their Real Estate Agent recommended.  You not only deserve the perfect home but more importantly you deserve to be able to afford the perfect home.  I always advise people take as much time shopping for a mortgage lender as you would the house. Your mortgage lender should be someone you would want to go to war with.  Someone who listens to your needs, knows your financial situation and who will be there years down the road when you want a check up.   So PLEASE don’t put all your eggs in the basket of the guy who quotes you a 2.99% unless you feel that he is the person who can get it done.
